You may not know his name, you may not recognise his face, but chances are you’ve seen his work. British actor Andy Serkis has made a name for himself as a performance capture artist – providing the movements and voice for CGI characters such as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, the 2005 version of King Kong and Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This month he’ll be returning to cinemas as Caesar, the leader of the intelligent apes in the modern Planet of the Apes movies.
To mark the release of War for the Planet of the Apes, 20th Century Fox have released a minute-long video demonstrating the amazing digital effects work carried out by Weta, the effects company that helped bring Caesar and his fellow apes to life. Check out the video below:
